Deviation Actions

I usually don't do journals like these where it mentions people's childish actions (like celebrities, singers, etc.) but this one got me really boiled.

This got me angry: bit.ly/1OQfqlZ

And this where I say, I'm glad I never liked the Rugrats lol.

A storyboard artist, Eric Molinsky, from the popular cartoon, Rugrats, decided to make a childish article stating that he didn't like "people's interpretations of what the kids would look like if they were grown up" so he decided to "draw his own version". He didn't like the way people "made" them look like "models" or "hipsters" or liking the idea of Chuckie overcoming anxiety (or even bits of it) and I don't understand this.
What's wrong with overcoming anxiety? It draws away from his character? People do change throughout time. That's not a bad thing. (Kinda like when people draw Double D without his hat; you don't see animators of Ed, Edd, n' Eddy getting angry about people imagining what his hair would look like.) And it's not like these artists demand they look like this either. They just wanted to draw something from a show they loved and remembered. Like all fanart is. It was free. But now they're visioned as "degrading" to you. You know how that'd feel?

Instead, he thinks people are "ruining" his "legacy show" by making them modern. Well you know what? It's 2015. It's not the 90s anymore, so things are gonna change; whether it's clothing style and/or body style. The kids would probably be in their early to mid 20s anyway, where fashion sense and bodybuilding do come into place(And the chopsticks in Kimi's hair you drew didn't do anything). Drawing them just like their parents kinda defeats the purpose of individuality and creativity. Kids can be totally different from their parents.
Even The Simpsons has accepted that time changes. It's an old show, but there are references of modern things in it in new episodes. And it's really great. Seeing Lisa and Bart in Mikasa's(AoT) and Naruto's clothing in an episode was honestly really cool! And an opening where they were lip syncing to Kesha's "Tik Tok" was cool too! While doing all these things, they both entertain older and younger viewers at the same time.

And the replies on this post saying "lol tumblr upset again"
It's not just tumblr. It's fan's art getting bashed on by an animator of the show. And that really hurts. I understand why they're angry. If they weren't on tumblr, you wouldn't say anything; it's just your mind instantly thinks "oh they're angry. probably a tumblr user and/or a steven universe fan".
If someone posted your artwork without permission in an article just to bash on it, you'd be angry and crushed too.

This guy didn't even CREATE the characters. He ANIMATED them. So he has no right to say anything anyway!

Back to the article, I wouldn't say anything like "it's been 20 years and he still doesn't know how to draw lol", but I will say he's acting really childish and butthurt over something that's not even threatening him; the Rugrats is over with, there's never gonna be any new episodes, so... get over it? I mean, when I see people draw my characters I get happy! When my friends tell me they think of an AU with my characters, I get excited!

But I guess we're not all angry old men.

Well, at first I thought "well they're his characters so I can understand why he wouldnt want people to change them since they're his characters" but then you said that they werent his designs or characters.

I personally do understand why he doesnt like it, probably because he had some sort of connection to the characters. But I think with any fandom you have to expect that people are going to draw them differently from the inital design. So him throwing a hissy-fit is a BIT over the top, especially for such an old fandom
